The West Ferris Subway Peewee Hockey team came home from an exceptional outing this weekend in the Bell Sensplex House League Championships in Kanata. In the first game Subway came out firing with a 7-4 win over the Kingston Action.

For the second time in four years North Bay's Steve Omischl has won the Freestyle FIS World Cup championship thanks to a win in Sunday's World Cup event in Penticton, B.C. Omischl's 12th World Cup gold medal was also his first in Canada.

The Nipissing Lady Lakers are coming home with Gold as the volleyball team swept the Humber Hawks in three straight sets 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, to claim the provincial title which took place on the weekend in Barrie.

The North Bay Trappers swept the Timmins Majors thanks to a 7-6 victory on Saturday night at the McIntyre arena in Timmins. The Trappers took the first two games of the best-of-five series in North Bay last weekend.

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears showed no rust after having a bye through the quarter-final round of the NDA hockey playoffs as they demolished the FJ McElligott Voyageurs 12-0.

The Nipissing Alouettes allowed a 3-2 third period lead to slip away as the Bradford Rattlers came back to tie the game and score the game winner in the dying seconds as the Rattlers snuck by the Als 4-3 on Wedneday night at the Sturgeon Falls arena.

The West Ferris Trojans blanked a Chippewa Raiders squad with a short bench 5-0 on Wednesday. The win clinches their best-of-three NDA hockey quarter-final series 2-1.
