The Algonquin Barons Senior Girls Basketball team drew first blood in their best of three semi-final by downing the visiting West Ferris Trojans 32-30 on Thursday night at the Algonquin gym.

The Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced its 2008 OUA men’s and women’s soccer all-stars and major award winners in which four Nipissing soccer players were recognized.

Last Sunday the North Bay and District Pee Wee AAA Trappers met the Nickel City Sons in a league game in Levack. The Trappers came out fast, sticking to the game plan and as a result, spotting themselves a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period.

The Temiscaming Royals lost their 3rd straight and 4th in their past 5 games as the Sudbury Jr. Wolves outscored the Royals 8-4 Wednesday night in Greater Sudbury.

The WF Novice 'AA' Warriors competed in a tournament in New Liskeard over the weekend where they finished second losing in the final to the host team. The boys battled hard all weekend, playing six tournament games. It was a total team effort.

The NDA boys volleyball season comes to an end this week. In Senior boys play, the Widdifield Wildcats ended their season with a perfect record, going 12 and 0.

The Nipissing Lakers volleyball teams opened the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association regular season in front of a packed house and did not disappoint.

The North Bay Skyhawks will be at Don Cherry's on Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to meet fans of all ages. Fans will also be able to get autographs and meet your favorite Skyhawks Players.

There was a good turn out of fans on Saturday, October 25th, to watch the Canadore College Panthers host the St. Clair Saints in OCAA varsity volleyball action. The women’s game started at 6:00 p.m. and the men’s game followed at 8:00 p.m.
