Last Sunday the North Bay and District Pee Wee AAA Trappers met the Nickel City Sons in a league game in Levack.

The Trappers came out fast, sticking to the game plan and as a result, spotting themselves a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period. Steven Leveque opened the scoring and was quickly followed by Lucas Brown and Matt Peterson-Galema. Assists went to Cohen Allison, Alec Shaw, Leveque and Brown.

The second period started off like the first had ended with the Trappers controlling much of the play. Leveque notched his second of the game short-handed on a feed from Allison.

Toward the end of the second frame Nickel City - taking advantage of several Trapper penalties - were putting pressure on and getting numerous chances of their own.

Adam D'Agostino played excellent, holding the Sons off until late in the period when Nickel City scored on a screen shot from the point.

The third period is one the Trappers would like to forget, as they allowed the Sons back into the game with a 3 goal period of their own, sending the game to overtime.

Overtime solved nothing with game ending in a 4-4 tie.

Peewee Trappers head coach John Couch said this game was a real learning experience for his club.

"We never really let up or ran out of gas, which is promising," said Couch.

"It was the execution of our defensive zone coverage that resulted in Sudbury getting the chances they needed to tie up the game. We have plans to deal with that."

The Trappers are on the ice again this weekend in Timmins for 3 games against the AAA Timmins Titans.
