A young female driver was taken to North Bay General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a single car accident on the bypass Friday night.

The North Bay and District Health Unit says the flu situation is slowing down for now.

Two arsons which took place in North Bay in August of 2001 may have been solved with the arrest today of a suspect. The first fire occurred in an apartment building in the 500 block of Main St. W. and caused approximately $250,000 in damage.

Two Quebec men whose car broke down around 1 a.m. today on Hwy 17, in Bonfield, received a little bit more roadside assistance than they would have liked. The men were trying to flag down some help.

The North Bay Police Service is investigating a two-car collision which occured around 8:30 this morning on Algonquin Street. Two people were taken to the North Bay General Hospital, but the extent of their injuries are unknown at this point.

A North Bay man has been arrested in connection with the fraudulent use of counterfeit credit cards. The man was arrested following an investigation begun last month by the North Bay Police.

One of the worst parts of Lakeshore Drive will be resurfaced this year, as part of North Bay’s $10 million capital budget. City council gave the go-ahead for the project at a budget meeting Thursday night.

Northern Development and Mines Minister Rick Bartolucci will be the “breath of fresh air” needed by the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission,” said Brian Stevens, CAW Local 103 president.

Hwy 11 New Liskeard Closed Highway 11 at New Liskeard is closed near North Quarry Road and at New Liskeard due to a multi-vehicle collision. Both fire and ambulance are at the scene. At this time, it is unknown what injuries, if any there are.
