Suspect arrested in 2001 fire

Two arsons which took place in North Bay in August of 2001 may have been solved with the arrest today of a suspect. The first fire occurred in an apartment building in the 500 block of Main St. W. and caused approximately $250,000 in damage.

A second fire occurred the same day in a private home in the 600 block of Ann St.

Cst. Ken Rice of the North Bay Police arrested Allan McCarthy, 24, of Cassells Street. He is charged with two counts of arson and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
