A story in the Toronto Star says TransCanada Corp., is trying to drum up local support for its $12-billion Energy East pipeline by holding closed-door, invite-only meetings in North Bay.

OPP say an early morning house fire yesterday in Port Loring, just southwest of North Bay, is suspicious. At approximately 4:45 a.m., someone called the Powassan OPP reporting a house fire on Wilson Lake Road.
