Matt and Nick Walters won gold and silver medals Sunday at the OTFA Legion Provincial Cross-Country Championships in Brockville on the weekend. The twin brothers were part of the North Bay Legion Track Club that attended the weekend event.

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears came out of the Raiderdome with a huge victory on Tuesday night. The visiting Bears slipped by the Raiders 50-46 to capture the NDA Senior Girls Basketball title; winning the best-of-three series 2-1.

The Nipissing University women’s volleyball team was named the OCAA women’s team of the week.

The Tim Horton’s ICE CAPPS Petite B ringette team was in action this past weekend in the 19th Annual Nepean Invitational Ringette Tournament.

The West Ferris Tornados won the Major Peewee AA championship at the Missisauga North Stars pre Christmas Tournament on Sunday. The tornados lost their opening game to the Gouldbourn Rams 3-1 but never looked back after that.

The West Ferris Sr. Boys Basketball team began their season this weekend as they participated in the Laurentian University Invitational in Sudbury. This tournament is an invitational tourney and featured some of the top basketball teams in Ontario.

The Nipissing Alouettes come home with two road victories on the weekend. On Friday night they pummeled the South Muskoka Shield 9-0 and then on Saturday night against Deseronto they built up a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-3 victory.

Sam Cicci scored twice to lead the Chippewa Raiders to a 6-2 victory over the Widdifield Wildcats in NDA Boys Hockey action Sunday morning at Memorial Gardens.
