A new tenant may be moving into the historical Demarco’s Confectionery location this summer.

Reports indicate that the North Star Travelling Cafe, operated by Melissa Wyness will set up in the Algonquin Avenue location.

The news of the future opening came originally from Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota via social media on the weekend.

“I had the chance to try out some food from the soon to open North Star Traveling Cafe, it was amazing,” said Rota via Facebook after trying some of the North Star delights.

“Watch for its opening at the old DeMarco's site on Algonquin Avenue in North Bay.”

The North Star Travelling Cafe backed up the claim via the social media platform Imgrum with a photo at the well known Demarco’s counter and this statement:

“Something is brewing and it's not beer...😉 #cafe  #north ⭐️ #northbay  #retro  #demarcos  #staytuned”

Demarco’s has a rich history in North Bay dating back more than 85 years.

The well known confectionery shut down for good back in November of 2014.

The North Star Travelling Cafe has had a booth at the North Bay Farmer's Market and according to its Instagram page prides itself on serving "locally inspired edibles" in North Bay.

BayToday.ca was unsuccessful in reaching the North Star Travelling Cafe owners, to find out when the new Cafe will open.
