It's the kick-off event announcing the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Think Pink Week at the CIBC Cartier Banking Centre,789 McKeown Avenue

This week is dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer research and the 11th Annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure will take place in over 60 communities across the country on Sunday October 4th. 

It is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event for breast cancer research and awareness. 

 CIBC Main & Fraser Branch Manager Scott Nairn read a proclamation this morning declaring Friday September 18th as “Think Pink Day” in the city of North Bay.

  • breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women affecting one in every nine women in Canada
  • studies show 52% of breast cancer cases occur in women ages 50-69; and
  • breast cancer mortality rates have decreased by 44% since the peak in 1986; and
  • lifestyles choices such as not smoking, eating healthier and staying physically active, can play an important role in reducing the risk of breast cancer.
