PUBLIC ADVISORY

The North Bay Police Service continues to receive complaints of a fraud in relation to housing.
This fraud is advertised on the web site KIJIJI
The essence of the ads are that someone wants to rent an apartment within the city but that this same apartment can’t be seen as the owner is presently out of the country.
The ad and letter advise the prospective renter to forward a month’s rent along with security deposit to the owner in order to receive the keys.

Our Service wishes to caution the general public to be very careful when attempting to rent any accommodation and to be vigilant to these types of fraud.

If anyone is in doubt as to the legitimacy of these offerings they may call our Service at 497-5555.

Anyone with information on these or any other crimes are asked to call Near North Crime Stoppers at
476-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222TIPS (8477)
Submit tip online at our website www.nearnorthcrimestoppers.com
All tipsters remain anonymous.
