DRUG AWARENESS
Police in the Northeast Region have had an increase in occurrences relating to methamphetamine. This drug can be found in powder, crystal, or pill form. It is one of the most powerful and dangerous psycho stimulants available on the street. It is highly addictive. Users become so physically and psychologically dependant that their desire to consume more becomes a constant preoccupation and eventually an obsession.

Street names include speed, meth, chalk, ice, zip, crystal, crystal meth, and glass. Purchasing street drugs becomes even more hazardous because drugs can be mixed, or held out to be something else. Recent testing by Health Canada shows that 75% of what is sold as “ecstasy” contained methamphetamine.

The North Bay Police wish to caution the public that this drug is on our streets. We encourage parents to educate their children about the dangers and urge anyone with information about this drug to contact their local police or crimestoppers.

Anyone with information on these or any other crimes are asked to call Near north Crime Stoppers at 476-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222TIPS (8477). Submit tip online at our website www.nearnorthcrimestoppers.com. All tipsters remain anonymous.
