The North Bay Police Service would like to advise the public that during its ‘BACK IN SCHOOL” safety blitz from the 1st of Sept. to the 11th of Sept. no drivers were charged with school bus violations. However there were several charges of speeding laid within school zones.
Our Service would like to remind the motoring public to continue being vigilant concerning school buses and to be careful within school zones as well as abiding school guard directions.

TRIED THEIR BEST

On the 13th of Sept. at approximately 2:45 AM it is alleged that an intoxicated male was doing donuts and burn outs within a mall parking lot on Algonquin Av. while pedestrians were present.
At this time two females known to the man tried to take the vehicle keys away from him. Both females were assaulted by this male who then drove away.
Csts. Helen Boissonneault and Seth Dinsmore of the North Bay Police received this information shortly after and a while later at approximately 6 AM the man was located outside of his residence and arrested.
Michael LARENTE 26 years old of McIntyre St. E. is charged with Impaired Driving, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and 2 counts of Assault.
He was kept in custody for a bail hearing.

VIOLENCE

On the 11th of Sept. at approximately 10:45 PM it is alleged that while at a party, one woman attacked another woman. The victim was allegedly pushed down stairs and then struck on the head with a wine bottle. The bottle broke and caused a 1 inch cut to the victim’s temple. The attacker then fled the scene.
Cst. Steve Trahan of our Service continues his investigation into the matter.

BREAK & ENTERS

On the 13th of Sept. between the hours of 9:30 AM and 11 AM it is alleged that an apartment within the 100 block of Milani Rd. was broken into. The home was ransacked and numerous Oxycontin pills were stolen as well as cash, a Playstation 3 plus various games, jewellery, and a Canadian Tire Credit card.
Entry was gained via a rear window.

On the 11th of Sept. at approximately 1AM a basement motion sensor light was tripped within a home on Sunset Boulevard. The owner contacted Police and officers arrived at the home and found that a basement bedroom screen had been ripped open to allow entry. It does not appear that anything was taken at the time of report. The investigation continues.
