North Bay hockey fans who watched Mike Yeo hoist the Stanley Cup on June 12th will get an opportunity to share in the glory again.

The Pittsburgh Penguins assistant coach will host a family Stanley Cup viewing on Thursday, July 23rd at Thomson Park. It has become a tradition for Stanley Cup winning players, coaches and officials to have a day with the Cup. Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy shared the trophy with his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie on Friday, July 3rd.

"I am very excited about bringing the Stanley Cup to North Bay," said Mike Yeo in a press release.

"I have had so much help and support from the people in our community, it will be special to share this day with everyone."

The North Bay Stanley Cup event is tentatively set for 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 23rd, and fans will line up to get a chance to see the cherished trophy and snap a photo. Yeo adds event time and date is subject to change by the National Hockey League.

Particpants willl also be able to take part in a barbeque hosted by Burger World outside the arena while a number of other hockey related events will take place inside Memorial Gardens. Details on those events will be released within a week.

All proceeds of the barbeque will go to Kidsport.

The Stanley Cup has made a few stops in the North Bay region this past decade.

In 2001, Greg de Vries shared the Stanley Cup with his hometown of Sundridge after the Colorado Avalanche won the cup that year. In 2004, Bill Barber, Director of Player Development with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the time, brought it to Callander after the Lighting won the Cup.

The last time the Cup was here though had nothing to do with a Stanley Cup championship as it was on display at Canadore College and Thomson Park on Sunday, September 16th, 2007 as part of the 2007 North Bay Hockeyville festivities.
