BayToday has been informed of at least three public events taking place on the day Steve Omischl jumps for gold.

The CTV broadcast of the Freestyle Aerial final - including three Canadians - takes place at 9:00 p.m., with 12 skiers searching for gold.

Just like during the preliminary jump, the Capitol Centre is holding a viewing party. There is NO admission charge to the big screen at the Capitol Centre and the Martini Lounge and refreshment and concession kiosks will be open.

Meantime, in the Laurentian Cafe (lower bowl) at the lower lodge on Ski Club road. Ski Hill officials are inviting skiers to come out for a night ski and then come watch their local hero.

"It's always free but we're asking for donations to the Freestyle Ski Program to help find our next World Champion," Laurentian Ski Hill stated in a press release on Wednesday.

Sign for Steve

Gymtrix is holding a print signing today. The professionally printed sign says "Go Steve Go - North Bay Believes in You!"

A number of schools will be stopping by the Gormanville Road Gymnastics facility throughout the day.

"We also have flags throughout the facility and a number of pictures of Steve when he trained at Gymtrix," said Gymtrix official Nicki Chretien-Mills.

"The public is welcome to come in Thursday anytime between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. if they would like to sign the banner."
