WFRA receives special recognition from Ontario Ringette

The Ontario Ringette Association at their Annual General Meeting last Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Best Western in North Bay has awarded some provincial awards to the West Ferris Ringette Association.

At the weekend long AGM event, Ontario Ringette awarded the West Ferris Ringette Association with three special awards.

The first award was a "Thank You award" for hosting this past years 2010 Provincial A Ringette Championship tournament. The award reads: “In appreciation to West Ferris: hosts ‘A’ PRC 2010."

The second award was a 40th anniversary award presented to the WFRA upon completing 40 years of ringette: 1970-2010

The third and final award that the Ontario Ringette Association awarded to the West Ferris Ringette Association was provincial association of the year award for the 2009-2010 season.

“This past season was a big year for the WFRA has we held a stamp launch in August for Canada Post’s new ringette stamp, we hosted a ‘AAA’ Challenge Cup event in October, hosted our 7th annual Agnes Jacks Memorial Ringette Tournament in February, hosted the 2010 Provincial A Championship tournament, and welcomed the Ontario Ringette Association this past weekend for their Annual General Meeting,” Andrew Hopkins, WFRA Publicity Director explained.

“It is a great honour that Ontario Ringette has recognized us for all our hard work, and long hours that we put in to hold all of these events all in one season. Congratulations to all the volunteers who helped make this season a memorable one and keeping the sport of ringette alive and well in North Bay. The WFRA is grateful to ORA in recognizing us with this distinct honour of being this years provincial association of the year.”
