PEMBROKE, ON – The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club`s Under-13 Blizzard teams represented North Bay and area well during their first OVA tournament action of the season with the Blizzard White collecting Gold while the Blizzard Blue were edged in a closely contested Bronze medal game.

In round robin play both teams finished first in their respective pools and advanced to the semi-finals. Team White defeated the Maverick Sidewinders and Ottawa Fusion while team Blue defeated the Akwesasne Soaring Eagles and were edged by the Maverick Rattlers.

In the semis team Blue dropped a 2-0 (25-12, 25-21) decision to the Ottawa Fusion which set up a rematch with the Maverick Rattlers for Bronze. The Blizzard Blue took the first set 25-17 however the Rattlers responded by taking the second set 25-16 to force a third and deciding set. Both teams saved the best for last as the final set proved to be a nail bitter until the end when the Rattlers edged the Blizzard Blue 15-12 to claim bronze.

Team White defeated the Maverick Rattlers in the semi-finals 2-0 (25-9, 25-18) to advance to the gold medal game against the Ottawa Fusion. In the final both teams battled point for point and in the end the Blizzard White edged the Fusion 2-0 (26-24, 25-23) to claim Gold.
