The West Ferris Trojans made sure there were no upsets in game one of the NDA Sr. Boys Basketball finals this year at home as they defeated the Chippewa Raiders 48-34 Saturday night at West Ferris Senior Secondary.

The unbeaten Trojans only had a four point lead in the first half before pulling away for good in the second half.

“We aren’t going to score a lot of points against them,” said Trojans head coach Larry Tougas after the game.

“We were pretty good defensively and they had to be patient and there weren’t a lot of openings offensively."

In 2005 the Raiders upset the Trojans at home and nearly captured the NDA title in game two before Andrew McIntosh's buzzer beater extended last year's final which the Trojans captured by winning game three on home court.

The Raiders and Trojans will meet up in game two of the best-of-three series on Monday night at Chippewa. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
