Trappers unbeaten at Big Nickel Tournament

The North Bay Trappers have one win and two ties in their first three games at the Annual Big Nickel Tournament taking place this weekend in Sudbury. The Trappers started off Thursday night with a 3-3 tie against the Richmond Hill Stars.

The Trappers started off Thursday night with a 3-3 tie against the Richmond Hill Stars. Marc Senecal had a pair of goals for the Trappers and Matt Pepin added a single.

The Trappers followed that up Friday morning with a 2-2 tie against the Guelph Jr. Storm. Joel Senecal and Paul Deluca had the Trapper goals in the tie.

In their third game the Trappers shut out the Quinte Red Devils 3-0. Kody Carnevale, Marc Senecal and Paul Deluca scoring in the win.

The Trappers next contest is Saturday night at 5 p.m. when they take on a more familiar opponent in the shape of the Valley East Cobras at the Walden Community Center.

Blades struggling at Big Nickel

The North Bay Hilltop Variety Blades have lost three straight games in Bantam AAA play at the Big Nickel Tournament.

The Blades opened the tourney Thursday with a close 4-2 loss at the hands of the Central Ontario Wolves.

Friday morning the Blades were shut out 9-0 by the Brantford 99ers, and on Friday night they fell 5-1 to the York-Simcoe Express.
