The Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves scored 5 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to break open a 4-4 tie after 40 minutes as the defending Great North Midget League champs defeated the North Bay Trappers 9-4 in game 1 of the best-of-five quarterfinal in Sudbury on Saturday night.

Jamie Olivier scored twice for the Trappers and Adam Marceau contributed with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Darnell Koosess had the other goal for the Trappers.

The Trappers were short two key players in the contest as underage forward Dylan Staples and top defenceman Pascal Seguin missed the game due to illness and injury respectively.

Denis Restoule, Andre Comtois and Dmitri Lacasse had two goals each for the Jr. Wolves. Kyle Lekun, Pat Houle and Stephane Houle had the other goals for the homeside.

Game 2 takes place at 2:50 p.m. at the Countryside arena in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon.
