Tornado's whirl through Sudbury Tournament

The West Ferris Major Peewee AA Tornados were awarded the "A" Gold medal following round robin play at the Sudbury 80's hockey tournament on the weekend. In their first game against the Orangville Flyers the Tornados lost 5-3 and then rallied to tie the Rayside Balfour Tigers 2-2 and the Sudbury Wolverines 2-2.

Coach Lui Ricci said that he felt that the boys had played well most of the tournament but we still have work to do.

"We were invited to play in the Minor Bantam AA division and though we are a Peewee team we accepted the challenge. I felt that through improved competition we would develop the boys and be ready for our own tournament later this month as well regular season play. I thought at the very least it's four games of solid competition. The end result is actually better than I expected. Coming home with a medal is bonus considering we were just in it for the games. The boys played hard and the competition highlighted a few areas we can continue to work at developing. It is a good start to what I expect to be a great season."

The Tornados will be participating in the North Bay Early Bird Tournament October 27th-29th.
