The West Ferris Peewee AA Tornado's went undefeated in round robin play at the Bell Capital with three straight wins to advance to the quarterfinals in first place in their division.

The Bell Capital Cup entered the Guinness World Record books this year as the worlds largest hockey tournament with 509 teams (nearly 25,000 players) competing from eight different countries.

In their opening game the Tornado's defeated the Caledon Hawks 6-1 with Gabriel Rancourt being awarded game MVP and Travis Rose named as the games hardest working player.

For game two the Tornado's faced the Long Island Gulls from New York. Goaltender Timmy Falconi shut the door and earned the shutout with MVP awards going to Dylan Staples and Kris Faucon being named as the games hardest worker.

Game three against the Kanata Blazers was anticipated to be a battle and it didn't disappoint. Michael Mason of the Tornados opened the scoring to be matched by the Blazers less than a minute later. The Tornados took the lead in the second with a goal from Dylan Staples and never relinquished it. In the third Tanner Owca scored to make it 3-1 for theTornados. Late in the third the Blazers drew within 1 but the Tornados held them off to emerge victoriously and to advance to the quarter finals. Goaltender Dustin Hummel put in a determined effort to earn Game MVP while Kris Faucon was named the hardest worker.

In the quarter finals West Ferris Tornados faced the Abbotsford Hawks from British Columbia. After a wild second period which saw 4 goals scored in less than 2 minutes (3 by Abbotsford 1 by West Ferris) the Tornado's found themselves down 4-2. The Tornado's drew to within one with a penalty shot goal scored by defenseman Michael Perrin but in spite of the Tornado's strong effort to comeback the Hawks scored an empty netter to put the game out of reach as the game ended 5-3. Dylan Staples was named the Tornado MVP while Mike Perrin was given the Hardest worker award.

Tornado's coach Lui Ricci was proud of the results despite the quarterfinal elimination.

"This is a major tournament with major competition on an international level," said Ricci.

"We came and we competed well. I think if we had another shot at Abbotsford that we would advance further but today the puck didn't bounce that way. The boys showed a lot of heart and played some of the best hockey I have seen them play."
