It’s down to the final four in NDA Senior Football as the playoffs begin next weekend. Who will move on to the Championship game?

Frank:

“All year I’ve been saying watch out for Northern and Braves coach Richard Lachance has always built a good offence. They met before in the Skydome a few weeks ago but that doesn’t mean much because it will be a whole different atmosphere in Sturgeon Falls next Saturday. I really like the Braves but I still can’t bet against the Trojans and Larry Tougas. I know Northern is good and the Trojans are young but I think Ferris will take this game. I think it was a positive that the Trojans were able to move the ball on the ground against the Bears. So I’m going to pick the Trojans to move on to the final.

“In the Wildcats Bears matchup, we all know the Bears only loss this season came at the hands of the Wildcats. Sean Mullan always prepares his Wildcat teams well for big games but I think Scollard’s talent will come through. John Whittet was a lot of offensive tools to use and he has a lot of options offensively. I just think the loss earlier in the year humbled this team. The Bears just beat Ferris, their bitter rivals, but I think the Bears win this one in convincing fashion in a hard nosed contest and I think it will be a Ferris-Scollard Championship game.”

Chris:

“Well, Frank I’m going to disagree with you on the Braves-Trojans semi-final. I think the up and coming Braves are going to defeat the Trojans on their home turf next weekend. The Trojans are going to have to find a way to bounce back after letting a 10 point second half lead slip away against their bitter rivals from St. Joseph-Scollard Hall. I think losing twice this year to a team they’ve been so successful against in the past will linger going into next weekend’s semi-final. However, Larry Tougas is a guy who can get his team motivated likely better than anyone in the league. However, the Trojans had a tough time stopping the Bears running game and Braves running back and MVP candidate Cam Rivard will be a handful for the Trojans ‘D’ next weekend. Look for a high scoring game with the Braves winning by a three.

“The Widdifield Wildcats proved this season that they won’t go down without a fight. The defending champs lost a lot of their key veterans that led them to the title last year but a comeback win against the Bears a few weeks ago proves that this rebuilding team can’t be taken too lightly. Unfortunately, I agree with you Frank that your school is just too good to let this one get away. The only downfall for the Bears can be looking past this game after an emotional win this weekend over the Trojans. If the Bears take the Wildcats for granted there will be an upset, but I just think the Bears are too good to let that happen.”
