Thunderbirds make waves in Valley East

The CT-33 Swim Club had 19 swimmers participate at the NEOR Developmental #4 meet held in Valley East this weekend. Many swimmers achieved personal best times, top ten finishes and one new record was recorded.
The CT-33 Swim Club had 19 swimmers participate at the NEOR Developmental #4 meet held in Valley East this weekend. Many swimmers achieved personal best times, top ten finishes and one new record was recorded.

In the boys 11 and under group Evan Lechlitner and Gabriel Brin’Amour Riffou swam to 2 personal best each with Lechlitner swimming to a 6th & 9th place and Brin’Amour Riffou posting one 2nd, 4th & 5th for the weekend.

In the girls 10 & under group Zeyana Laplante lead the way with 5 personal best and a 3rd, 6th, 7th & 9th place showing. Newcomers to the team Maddison Whittet and Jaime Reynolds swam to three personal best each with Reynolds posting a 3rd, two 5th & 6th and Whittet one 7th & 9th.

In the girls 11 & 12 category Regan Jackson lead the way with 5 personal best, three 1st & two 2nd. Jesse Hives followed suite with 1 personal best, two 1st, two 2nd and a new club record in the 1500 freestyle. Sydney Hughes and Zaffia Laplante swam to 2 personal best with Hughes posting two 1st, 2nd & 3rd and Laplante two 2nd, 4th & 6th. Tessa Steel had 5 personal best and swam to two 2nd, two 3rd & 4th while Monika Hotson posted 4 personal best and swimming to a 4th, two 5th, 6th & 8th.

Sean Pulyk was the clubs only entrant in the boys 12 yrs category and he swam to 4 personal best with four 2nd & 3rd. In the girls 13 & 14 category Sierra McCourt lead the pack with 2 personal best and five 1st, while Jaydan Jackson and Kylie Weber followed with Weber swimming to 4 personal best and four 1st & 2nd and Jackson 2 personal best, two 1st & three 3rd. Ashley Stronach swam to 3 personal best, a 3rd, two 4th & 6th and Brooke Bowes swam to 5 personal bests - a 3rd, a 4th and two 5th & 6th's.

Dylan Jackson and Andrew Palangio were the clubs only 15 & over boys participating with both putting in solid performances. Jackson had 5 personal bests, two 1st two 2nd & a 5th while Palangio swam to two 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th. The club is now preparing for the next big meet which is Team Provinicial Championships which are being held in Sudbury April 18th.
