Thunderbirds Compete at Top Meets

The Thunderbirds have had a busy last two weekends. On the 19-21 February 19th to 21st, the best swimmers from all over Canada participated in the Eastern National Championship in Nepean.

On the 19-21 February 19th to 21st, the best swimmers from all over Canada participated in the Eastern National Championship in Nepean. Jesse Hives, Jaydan Jackson, Sierra McCourt and Jaime Lee Udeschini participated. Jaydan Jackson set a new team and regional record in the 200 Meter backstroke.

On the same weekend, a team of 14 swimmers participated in the NEOR Development meet in Elliot Lake. Josh Brost and Tessa Steel swam 5 first place finishes, Sean Pulyk 3 firsts, Monika Hotson 2 firsts followed by Gabriel Brind’Amour Riffou and Elle Louise George with a first each. Swimmers Camelia Brind’Amour Riffou, Jacob Brost, Karyn Busch, Cameron Cole, Evan Lechlitner, Emily Redhead, Mark Steel had top 8 finishes with our youngest swimmer Alexa Brind’Amour Riffou swimming three personal best times.

This past weekend, three swimmers participated in the Ontario Junior Provincial meet held in Etobicoke. Jesse Hives, Jaydan Jackson and Sierra McCourt represented their team well. Jackson won a gold in the 200 Back and silver in the 200 IM as well as breaking a team record in the 200 Fly. Hives had three top 10 finishes and three personal best times.

The team will be training hard for the Team II Championships to be held in Brantford in April.
