T-Birds Wright and Jackson Bring Home Trophies

SUDBURY, ON. - This weekend 28 Thunderbird swimmers participated in the Dr.Jeno Tihanyi Long Course swim meet held in Sudbury. The meet is divided up into two different categories with an A and B meet.
SUDBURY, ON. - This weekend 28 Thunderbird swimmers participated in the Dr.Jeno Tihanyi Long Course swim meet held in Sudbury. The meet is divided up into two different categories with an A and B meet. This is the last scheduled meet for most swimmer who have not qualified for Provincials or Nationals.

The team ended the A meet with a second place finish behind the host team, Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club, 48 medals were brought home, two swimmers came away with high points trophies in their respected age category and three new club records.

'A' meet were Kylie Webster, Monika Hotsonk,Tessa Steele, Talia Preston, Sydney Hughes, Sierra McCourt, Jaime Udeschini, Gabriel Brind Amour Riffou, Joshua Brost, James Gibb, Greg Katsuno, Mackenzie King, Sean Pulyk , Noah Swain, Emma, Megan & Jesse Hives, Zaffia & Zeyana Laplante and Regan, Jaydan & Dylan Jackson while swimmers in the B meet were Evan Lechlitner, Jaimee Reynolds, Maddison Whittet and Christa Wright.

Jaydan Jackson, 14 and Christa Wright, 11 both placed first in their respective age winning the overall high points trophy. Medalists for the weekend for both meets were Maddison Whittet with two 3rd, Jaimee Reynolds three 1st & one 3rd, Evan Lechlitner one 3rd, Christa Wright four 1st & one 3rd, Jaydan Jackson with six 1st, Dylan Jackson one 1st & 3rd, Sierra McCourt one 1st, two 2nd & 3rd, Mackenzie King three 1st & 2nd, Noah Swain one 1st & 2nd, Josh Brost four 1st & one 2nd, Sydney Hughes one 3rd, Zeyana Laplante two 2nd and one 3rd, Talia Preston two 2nd & 3rd, Tessa Steele one 3rd, Gabriel Brind Amour Riffou one 1st , Sean Pulyk two 3rd and Greg Katsuno one 3rd.
On June 4th to 7th six swimmers travelled to Etobicoke to participate at Senior Provincials and Age Group International. Some great results were posted and Sierra McCourt, Jesse Hives and Jaydan Jackson qualified for several finals in the evening. Both McCourt and Jackson swam to new club records and personal best times. Other participants were Mackenzie King, Jaime Udeschini and Dylan Jackson.

Three swimmers, Jesse Hives, Sierra McCourt and Jaydan Jackson will continue with there training as they plan on attending Long Course Provincials in London July 2nd to 5th and Age Group Nationals in Montreal July 16th to 19th. As well Jaydan Jackson participating at the North American Challenge Cup August 5th to 7th in Las Mirada, California.
