Storm pelts Alouettes

The Deseronto Storm showed why they had only lost three times in their last 16 games as they defeated the Nipissing Alouettes 7-3 on Sunday night at the Sturgeon Falls Arena.

Justin Huycke scored twice while Dan Madigan added a single for the Alouettes. Arthur Ketchedjian and Paul Traynor added two assists each. Former Temiscaming Royals captain Brad Clark was a one man wrecking crew for the Storm as he scored three goals in the first period while adding two assists. Greg Martyn, Jeff Morris, Todd Munden and Cam Edwards completed the scoring for the visitors. Martyn also added two assists.

Pat Beaudry took the loss in goal after relieving Max Bazar in the first period. Travis Elvin picked up the win for the Storm who will now face the King Wild in the South division quarterfinals. The Alouettes now get ready to host the first two games of the North division quarterfinals against the Oro-Medonte 77's. The Als won the season series against the 77's 4-1 outscoring the 77's 26-16 in the process. The playoffs start on Friday February 27th. You can check the playoff schedule here.
The Als have also one regular season game to play and that will be next Friday as they travel to Elliot Lake to take on the Bobcats in what could be a preview of the North division semi-final.
