Skyhawks Radigan reaching out

Kyle Radigan is not just an exceptional hockey player, he also gives back to the community by choosing to donate his time helping with the North Bay North Stars.

The North Stars are a non-profit hockey team made up of skaters from 15 to 70 years old and coached by Special Education teachers, Barry Berger and Jared Hunt.

As part of his second year in the Physical and Health Education program at Nipissing University, Kyle helps with drills and giving tips where he can, as well as occasionally writing the monthly newsletters for the team. A player from the past, Mike Lalonde, also helps with the goaltenders.

It is a busy schedule with practices taking place most Sundays from 2-4 pm at Pete Palangio arena and exhibition games against other special needs teams, the most recent from Ottawa. They have also played against a girl’s team from the area and the fire fighters.

With a proposed Pond hockey event in February and a tournament planned for North York in April the North Stars and Radigan will be busy.

"This is what I have chosen to do and I am thoroughly enjoying doing it," said Radigan.
