The North Bay Skyhawks continue their struggles against the NOJHL basement dwelling Manitoulin Islanders. The Isles snuck by the Skyhawks 3-1 on Friday night at the Howland Rec. Centre in Little Current.

With the score 1-1 late in the third period, Carlo Metatawabin scored the game winner on a powerplay to break the 1-1 tie. Justin Hogan scored an empty netter for the Islanders to seal the victory.

Matt Williams scored the lone Skyhawks goal also on the powerplay while Skyhawks goalie Ian Wilson made 28 saves in the loss.

The Islanders have almost half of their entire victories against the Skyhawks. The Isles have 8 wins on the season and have now won three of their last four meetings against the Skyhawks this season.

The Skyhawks loss still leaves them in 5th spot in the seven team NOJHL, sitting three points behind the Blind River Beavers for 4th spot with a game in hand.

On Saturday night the Skyhawks will be in Blind River to take on the Beavers and then they return home on Sunday to host the Soo Indians.
