A group of grade eight students from Cite des Jeunes got a chance to be up close and personal with Skyhawks players Joe Trotter, Bryan Albert, Ian Wilson, Kyle Heroux and AJ Shiverdecker. On Tuesday the students got a chance to skate with the Skyhawks players and then even visit the dressing room.

The students had a list of questions for the players and each student received an autographed picture from head coach Darren Turcotte who is a graduate of Cite des Jeunes.

Cite des Jeunes teacher Lynn Belanger says the purpose of the Skyhawks activity was to motivate grade 8 students to fully participate in their education.

“Meeting the players of the Skyhawks allowed the students to see first hand the different aspects of hockey,” said Belanger.

“These aspects will be studied more in depth as they read a fictional novel about hockey in the future. Furthermore, the students appreciated the kindness and the respect demonstrated by the players and the administration.”
