Senior Baseball playoffs - Blanchfield holds off Assante

Blanchfield Roofing defeated Assante 9-7 in game 1 in the double knockout playoffs in Senior Baseball action Sunday.

Dale Valade pitched the entire game finishing with 9 strikeouts. Tim Lowe suffered the loss. Assante jumped to an early 1-0 lead only to see Blanchfield score 5 runs in the 2nd inning highlighted by Graham Gauthier home run. Assante pulled within three with a run in the third inning to make it 5-2. With Blanchfield up 9-2 in the bottom of the 7th Assante scored 5 to make it 9-7 but Matt Sneddon struck out to end the rally.

Graham Gauthier finished the night with 3 hits. Jake Tougas, Chris Kangur and Gavin Poitras had 2 hits each for Blanchfield Roofing. Kendrick had 3 hits for Assante.
