The West Ferris U12 Ring Rebels, sponsored by Optimum Insurance Company, added more than a ton of food to Tom Hedican's 2009 Coach4Food campaign. The Rebels, who also received a financial donation from Wagg's Petroleum Equipment, pushed the total up by 2,078 pounds to 28,277 pounds, more than 19 tons.

"Good work Ring Rebels, their families, and everyone who contributed to making this program a success," said Ring Rebels head coach Tara Michauville.

Coach4Food, inspired by rock star Bruce Springsteen's work with food banks in Canada and the U.S, has one week to make up more than 30,000 pounds to reach last year's record of 60,482 pounds. Cash donations to boost the campaign can be made at the TD Bank on Cassell's street.
