Skate Canada has announced that it has awarded North Bay to host the 2011 Ontario Regional Synchronized Skating Championships, February 11-13, 2011.

This event is a joint venture with the North Bay Synchronized Skating local organizing committee (LOC). All the events will take place at Memorial Gardens Sports Arena.

The Ontario Regional Synchronized skating championships is the qualifying event for Ontario Synchronized skating teams and the largest of three regional qualifying competitions being held in Canada. Teams qualifying from these three events will then have an opportunity to compete at the BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Synchronized (national) skating Championships.

This qualifying competition will have approximately 100 teams of 12 to 20 skaters from all over Ontario. The city of North Bay can expect an estimated 2500 participants, officials, coaches and their families over the weekend.
