The Chippewa Raiders battled back from a two goal deficit late in the third period to tie the NDA champion St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears 7-7 in the opening game of the NOSSA AAA play downs taking place at Memorial Gardens.

Matt Connell and Josh McKenny scored the pair of goals less than three minutes apart only minutes after a pair of quick goals by the Hummel brothers (Brad at 7:30 and Tyler at the 8:18 mark) appeared to put the game out of reach in the third period.

The comeback was even more impressive as the Raiders played with only 12 players on the bench including dressing goaltender Matt Bahm as a forward.

The Raiders were led offensively in this high scoring affair by Matt Connell with a pair, while singles went to Byron Berger, Nik Priebe, Josh McKenny, Kory Clermont, and Matt Bahm.

Nick Fava, Tyler Hummel and Ben Carriere led the Bears offense with two goals each while Brad Hummel had a single.
