Powassan Hawks teams participated in Tom Hedican's Coach4Food drive Thursday evening. The Geisler Marine Novice reps and the Gomoll Tim-BR Mart Atoms, sponsored by John and Joanne Cutsey of FDM4 International, added 1,362 pounds the food drive.

The Powassan Medical Centre Peewees and Powassan Assante Atoms, sponsored by Optimum Insurance and David Lamothe of Carte Blance, then combined for another 1,384 pounds to push Coach4Food over the 17-ton mark.

Coach4Food now stands at 34,046 pounds with two more practice results to come. Hedican's fundraiser was inspired by Bruce Springsteen's work with food banks in Canada and the U.S.

The food gathered from the Powassan teams will stay with the Powassan Food Bank.
