The North Bay and District Pee Wee AAA Trappers were at home this past weekend for the last three regular season games of the season against the Timmins AAA Storm.
In the first game on Saturday the Trappers gave up an early first period goal but answered before the end of the first and kept the pressure on Timmins throughout the final two frames and were able to put three more behind the Storm goalie for a well deserved 4-1 win. The shots were 27-27.

Both teams hit the ice two hours later for the second game. The Trappers dominated a lot of the play and outshot Timmins 36-21, but this time around they could not solve the Storm goaltender, and a lot of chances around the net came up short. Timmins won game two 5-3.

With both teams holding one win each the pivotal game came on Sunday in Verner. The first period was fast paced hockey. Both teams sensed the games importance and were putting out strong efforts. It was scoreless after the first, but early in the second the Storm broke the ice for a 1-0 lead. The Trappers answered and took a 2-1 lead as well, before Timmins quickly tied it up and again pulled ahead to make it 3-2 Storm at the end of the second frame. The third started poorly for the Trappers as Timmins banged in two loose pucks around the Trapper net for a 5-2 lead. The Trappers fought back taking advantage of a Storm penalty and made it 5-3, before the Storm scored on controversial offside empty net goal that was scored as the Trappers had the goalie pulled to push for more goals late in the third. Never giving up the Trappers continued to work hard and scored one more before time ran out. The game ended 6-4 for Timmins with Timmins outshooting North Bay 32-28.

Coach John Couch had the following comments about the weekend games:

"The boys showed their true talents during our first game. It was obvious to me and my coaching staff that we had brought our A game on Saturday morning. In the afternoon I think the boys felt a second win was a given, and it showed in our play, we were not the same team that showed up in the morning.

"Sundays game was a real barn burner, our boys played hard, we unfortunately made more mistakes than Timmins and it cost us dearly. We now have to work harder than we have all year to get ready for the play-offs and I hope the boys bring their AAA game for that!"

Next stop for the Trappers are the playoffs. The schedule is still undetermined at this time.
