It was an exciting evening at the Canadore College gym this Friday night for women’s volleyball. The Panthers fought hard and came out on top with a 3-1 win over the Lambton Lions. They won the first set 25-13.lost the second 25-20 then won the final two sets 25-18 and 25-23.
“We all came out from the beginning telling ourselves that nobody is coming into our gym and pushing us around,” said Panthers Amanda Allen.
The Panthers played a strong game as a team but 3 players stood out this night. The leading scorer, Kristen Verkuyl, had 17 kills and one serving ace for a total of 18 points for the night. Rachel Johnson and Jessica McLean both finished off the evening with 10 points each.
“We played with so much intensity! I have been waiting for so long for this, and I am truly grateful.” said Jessica McLean.
Honorable mentions for the Lambton Lions were Korrie Bogaert with 7 points, and Justine De Boer and Sandra Vanderlinde with 5 points each.
They look forward to their next match, Saturday October 25th, at Canadore College gym, against the St. Clair Saints at 6:00 p.m.
