The RCL #599 Novice A Blades have established a single-team record for Tom Hedican's 2009 Coach4Food program, bringing in a whopping 3,835 pounds of food to their practice. The Blades, sponsored by Knox Insurance Brokers, catapulted Coach4Food beyond 12 tons to 25,177 pounds with one week left in the fundraiser for the North Bay Food Bank.

The team also brought financial sponsorship from Dr. Karen Morris Dentistry, George Stockfish Ford, Bruell Contracting, Paul LaLonde, Bob Guenette, Guardian Drugs on Main, and Dr. Jenn Degraauw.

Coach4Food, inspired by rock star Bruce Springsteen's work with food banks, established a record in 2008 with 60,482 pounds of food for the Food Bank. This year's total will be announced Dec. 23.
