The North Bay U11 girls surprised everyone including themselves during the 1st Annual North Bay Challenge Cup especially during round-robin play considering they were the only team that was a U11 team in a U12 division.

The North Bay U11 girls surprised everyone including themselves during the 1st Annual North Bay Challenge Cup especially during round-robin play considering they were the only team that was a U11 team in a U12 division.

First game, our girls played the team from New Liskeard and came out very strong early in the game scoring 2 quick goals and winning the game 3-0. Player of the game was Maria Dominico.

Second game, our girls played the North Bay U12 girls and what a game it was. It was a very tight and close game with players and parents on both sides amazed with how good the U11 team played. The final score was 2-1 for the U12 team but could have been very different by a matter of inches on a penalty kick late in the game for the U11 team. The player of the game was Cristina Brownlee.

Third game, our girls faced what looked like the tournament favorites Barrie. Again the girls played their hearts out and the Barrie coach was quoted saying we were their toughest competition in the round-robin. The game was tied 2-2 late in the game but finished 4-2 for Barrie. Player of the game was Alyssa Randall.

Player of the tournament for the North Bay U11 girls was Isabella Belanger. Isabella has become the quarterback of what is becoming quite the defensive line for this team and if this defensive line stays together, they will be unstoppable.

This was only the North Bay U11 girl’s second tournament but already they are emerging to be quite the team and hopefully they can stay together for years to come and one day bring home some major hardware to North Bay.
