The North Bay Jr Lakers White Caps had a fantastic OVA tournament Sunday at Nipissing University, going into the tournament ranked second.

The team started the day by beating the Orillia Suns Flare in 2 sets (25-17, 25-10). They then played the Steel City Ignite Blaze and won in 3 sets (25-7, 22-25, 15-12). In the quarter final game the Lakers beat the PVC Fire in 2 sets (25-21, 25-8).

In the semifinal game, they played a strong defensive Venom Cobras, but the Lakers again had success in 2 sets (25-22, 25-12).

The finals had the Lakers playing the #1 ranked Barrie Elite Hailstorm.

Club officials say It was a great team effort by all of the girls both offensively and defensively.

After losing a close first set and losing a couple of players to injuries, the Lakers rallied back to win the next 2 sets and win the gold medal (24-26, 25-17, 15-12).

Congratulations to the White Caps for a wonderful tournament and going undefeated at home.

The North Bay Jr. Lakers White Caps will play at the Ontario Championships in April.
