Nipissing Nordic is excited to announce the addition of Shelby Dickey to the women’s varsity squad for 2013/14. Shelby brings self-discipline and enthusiasm for the sport from time spent as a full time skier, now looking to fulfill her goals in both academics and sport. Shelby is a technically sound, strong skier, and will put the team in contention at the front of the pack.

Shelby chose Nipissing because of the seamless integration of sport and studies that the University offers.

“I became interested in Nipissing a few years back when I attended the Northern Ontario Division training camp," said Dickey.

"We trained at the university and I immediately loved the campus and the trails. … The more I heard about the school the more I wanted to be a part of it and in the end, I chose it.”

Shelby will continue to represent the province on the Ontario Ski Team while skiing for Nipissing Nordic.

In terms of prospects for the year ahead, Shelby will be studying in the BPHE program.

“I'm really excited to learn more in the sports science field,” she said.

This course of study will build on her life as a ski racer.

“The highlights in my life have been from spending time with my high school ski team, my club team (Highlands Trailblazers), and the provincial team so I am stoked to join the Lakers and make new memories. Lastly, I am looking forward to getting the full university experience and becoming a part of one of the best universities in the province.”
