The North Bay Trappers saw a 2-1 lead slip away as the first place Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves came back for a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at West Ferris arena.

The North Bay Trappers had a solid first period against the first place Nickel Capital Wolves. Only a minute after Steve Taylor scored the opening goal for the visitors, Jordon Scott potted his 14th of the season to tie the game at one. Nick Huard then gave the Trappers the lead with four minutes left in the first, but with only nine seconds on the clock, Devin Lockeyer tied the game 2-2 after 20 minutes of play.

Sudbury regained control of this close battle scoring the lone goal in the second.

In the third Wolves Captain, Matt Lecours, made it a two goal game midway through the period. Lecours would later put the game away in the last minute, after winning the race for the puck in the Trapper’s zone and scoring an empty netter.

His celebration in front of the Trappers bench landed him in the penalty box, but the damage was done and North Bay fell short losing 5-2.

Trapper’s Goalie Tanner Davis had 43 saves in the loss and his efforts did not go unnoticed by his Coach Beau Moyer.

“Yes it hurts," admitted Moyer. "We gave the best effort we could, we got solid goaltending, we had a chance to win and we came up short, we had a lot of chances. I think that was most shots we put on them this year.”

The Trappers Host the Soo North Stars next Saturday and the Timmins Majors on Sunday.
