The Trojan Sports Complex provided the venue for one of the Junior Football quarterfinal football games on Saturday. The Northern Braves travelled to West Ferris to face the third place Trojans. The first half proved to be a tremendous defensive battle. The Braves defence would bend but not break as they were able to stall the Trojans on several occasions. Running back Zach Delorme was finally able to break through the stingy Braves defence for a twelve yard touchdown run. Delorme went on to amass 85 yards rushing for the game. The Braves responded immediately with an impressive 55 yard run by Mattew Brunet to tie the score at 6-6. In the second quarter, the Trojan offense was able to drive to the Braves’ 14 yard line where a pass was able to find the hands of wideout Josh Williams to put the Trojans ahead 12-6.
The Trojan defence took control in the second half lead by Jordan Zimbalatti, Cameron Cleator and Kohlton Prior. The Braves had success in running up the middle with their powerful fullback runs. Dryden Rice completed the scoring in the third quarter as Trojan quarterback Colin Trach was able to orchestrate a 48 yard drive that was capped off with a 17 yard run by Rice. The 18-6 victory will put the Trojans against the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears in semi-final action next Saturday.

Wildcats win

In another quarterfinal contest on Saturday, the Widdifield Wildcats edged the Franco-Cite Patriotes 8-7.

Evan Stronach had the touchdown and conversion for the Wildcats. Craig Laframboise kicked a single point for the victory.
