STURGEON FALLS, ON. - Félix Perron kicked a game-winning field goal with just over 10 seconds left to give the Franco-Cité Patriotes a 9-7 win over the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears on a cold night for football in West Nipissing.
The Bears took an early lead on a single point in the end zone followed by a Tyler Besner touchdown catch to give the Bears a 7-0 lead. However, it was short lived as Mathieu Ouellet found the end zone for the Pats. The extra point was blocked. With just over a minute remaining, the Pats took possession deep in the Bears territory a followed it up with a touchdown which was promptly called back due to a false start. However, with 10 seconds left, Perron lined up for the 27 yard field goal and nailed it for the win. The Patriotes managed to stop the two last Scollard plays to hang on for the win.
With the victory, the Pats move to 3-2 while the Bears end the season at 4-2. The Pats have one game remaining against the Algonquin Barons on Wednesday at Algonquin.
