NDA Hockey - Trojans and Patriotes continue to roll

The Franco-Cité Patriotes kicked off the new year with a win by doubling the Chippewa Raiders 4-2 in NDA hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gardens.
The Franco-Cité Patriotes kicked off the new year with a win by doubling the Chippewa Raiders 4-2 in NDA hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gardens. Pierre Séguin, Nicolas Deschatelets, Stéphane Potvin and Patrick Desjardins scored for the Patriotes while Matt Poeta and Jordy Jameson replied for the Raiders.

Phil Beaudry picked up the win in goal making 21 saves while Mitch Thomas and Jason Perron split the duties for the Raiders making a combined 22 saves.

The win brings the Patriotes record to 8-2-4-1, good for second place in the NDA loop. The Raiders drop to 5-8-2-0. Next up for the Patriotes is a matchup with the Algonquin Barons on Sunday, January 14th while the Raiders face the Barons tomorrow afternoon at Memorial Gardens.

Trojans edge Voyageurs

The West Ferris Trojans won their fifth game in a row with a 5-3 victory over F.J. McElligott. Cam Leggett scored the only goal in the first period for West Ferris.

Shawn Hartwick tied it up halfway through the second. Jesse Moore put the Voyageurs ahead on a power play later in the second period. Joe Turner tied the game on a powerplay just two minutes later.

In the third period the Trojans went ahead on a goal by Nick Brunette. Stephan Devost followed up with a power play marker to put the Trojans up 4-2. The Voyageurs fought back as Josh Dewaal cut the lead down to 4-3. Mike McCrudden sealed the game in the final minute of regulation when he stepped out of the penalty box and raced in on a break away and put the puck top shelf. Stephane Dodier stopped 25 of 30 shots for the Voyageurs, while Damien Bissonnette stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Trojans.
