Monteith Group wins Mixed Slopitch title

Division 3 regular season champions Monteith Building Group went undefeated in their Nipissing Mixed Slopitch League playoffs last week en route to a league championship.

Monteith defeated North Bay Allstars 9-4 in Game 1 of the double knockout playoffs. Chris Dowdall led the way going 3-3 for Monteith while Chris Chrick went 3-3 for the All-Stars. In game 2 vs. The Green Store, a 4-run seventh inning come from behind win gave the Monteith team a 9-8 win. Tricia Hiltz went 3-3 for Monteith and Ryan Payne batting 3-3 for The Green Store.

In the semi-final game Monteith upended The Moose 13-8 to move onto the finals against Boston Pizza/RTS. Stephanie Bennett led the team in the semi-final going 3-3 for the winners and Frank Couture hitting 3-3.

In the final, Monteith held on for a 12-7 victory. Chad Treen and Tim Dowdall hit 3-3 while LeeAnne Nesbitt batted 3-3 for the runners up.
