The Midget AAA Trappers dropped a 5-2 decision to Team Kazakhstan on Friday as the local Midget team took part in an international competition in Sudbury where teams from Russia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine clashed with Sudbury teams and the Trappers.

Ryan Robertson and Martin Strasbourg scored for the Trappers. The Trappers also took part in a unique shootout competition between the second and third period of the game which took place at the Countryside arena.

Despite the loss, Midget AAA Trappers head coach John Couch still felt it was a very memorable experience.

"This was a first for me and 90 percent of our team," Couch said about playing the international All-Star team.

"Team Kazakhstan is a very classy organization. They shoot and pass the puck very well. You could tell they were a National All-Star team. The rink was full and we would take part in something like this again in a second."

The Midget AAA Trappers next game is Saturday, January 8th when they host the Soo North Stars.
