The Sudbury Jr. Wolves got some shootout revenge as they defeated the North Bay Jr. Trappers 4-3 on Wednesday night at the McClelland arena in Copper Cliff. That result comes 3 days after the Jr. Trappers came out on top in the shootout on Sunday night in North Bay.

Zach McGillis, who was the only Wolves shootout shooter to beat Trappers goalie Michael Codina-Lucia on Sunday night, also beat him in the shootout on home ice. This time his goal gave the Wolves the extra point.

However, the Trappers gained an important road point along with building confidence after battling back from a one-goal deficit after 40 minutes and more importantly - with the score 3-2 Sudbury - scoring in the final 30 seconds to send the game to extra time.

JP Kascsak blasted a shot past Jr. Wolves goalie Brendan O’Neill with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Despite not getting 2 points, Jr. ‘A’ Trappers head coach and G.M. Ian Swalucynski was satisfied with the effort.

“I thought we played well,” said Swalucynski.

“We had a slow start, but most of Sudbury’s shots were from the outside. We came back and settled down in 2nd and 3rd and killed a lot of penalties.”

Trappers shooters JP Kascsak, Scott Pawson and Sacha Guimond all couldn’t solve O’Neill who started in front of Chris Kaye at home.

Colton Allan and Travis Fernley had the other goals – all in the third period for the Trappers.

Evan Daciuk, Joel Gagnon and Jayce Douskey had the other goals for the first place Jr. Wolves.

The Jr. Trappers have the weekend off as their next game is right back in Copper Cliff on Wednesday, November 24th. The Jr. Trappers next home game is Friday, November 26th when they host the Abitibi Eskimos.
