Solomon McCann scored 3 times - his 3rd into and empty net - as the North Bay Skyhawks held on for a 9-7 win over the Sudbury Jr. Wolves Wednesday night in front of 110 fans at the Garson arena.

Trent Lizee and Kyle Radigan scored two each. Justin Villeneuve and Brad Hummel added singles in the win.

Skyhawks head coach Ian Swalucynski felt his club lacked focus in the defensive zone which allowed the Jr. Wolves to stay in the game.

“It was directly our fault," Swalucynski said about allowing 7 goals agains.

"We got soft in our own end and that’s what happens.”

It wasn't a great night for the Skyhawks goaltenders either. Jeff Michael allowed 3 goals on 9 shots which led to a goaltender switch in the second period. Swalucynski said Riley Ross came in a made a couple big saves and got the win in relief, but it wasn't a great night for either netminder.

The Skyhawks victory spoiled a 4-point performance by Chris Kangas who got all his points in the third period where the two teams exchanged 7 goals.

Devin Lockeyer and Jeff Verreault also scored twice for Sudbury. Zach McGillis had the other goal for the Wolves.

The win breaks the Skyhawks short two-game losing streak.

The Skyhawks get the day off on Thursday before hosting a rare Friday night contest as the Blind River Beavers pay their second visit of the season to Memorial Gardens.

Then on Sunday, the Skyhawks host the Jr. Wolves. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
