North Bay's Matt Marquardt is on the move. The Boston Bruins prospect has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Marquardt was traded on the day before the NHL trade deadline for defenceman Cody Wild.

Marquardt was traded on the day before the NHL trade deadline for defenceman Cody Wild.

Marquardt, 22, has appeared in 42 games with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League this season recording 1 goal and 9 assists.

Last season the 6’3”, 229 pound left winger played in 71 games with the Providence Bruins and had 22 points (9G, 13A). He played junior hockey with the Moncton Wildcats and Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL collecting 164 points in 203 games.

Marquardt was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 7th round, 194th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The North Bay native is yet to play his first National Hockey League regular season game. The Oilers American Hockey League affiliate is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
