The North Bay Skyhawks dropped a 7-0 decision to the CJHL's Pembroke Lumber Kings in pre-season Junior 'A' hockey action Wednesday night in Pembroke.

The Skyhawks only used 6 returning players as they tried to gauge the talent of some of their players who are "on the bubble," during real game situations.

The good news for the Skyhawks was that they were able to win a post-game shootout 2-1.

The two teams will be re-aquainted as the Skyhawks host the Lumber Kings on Friday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

Fummerton not a Tiger

The Aurora Tigers have quashed any of the rumours that speedy Skyhawks forward Dustin Fummerton will be joining them this season.
“Fummerton has not signed with us nor do I foresee that happening,” Tigers president and head coach Jerome Dupont stated in an email to BayToday’s Blake McChristie.

Fummerton led the Skyhawks in scoring last season with 60 points in 48 regular season games.

He has yet to arrive at Skyhawks training camp and Skyhawks General Manager Guy Blanchard isn't sure when or if he will report.

Blanchard says Fummerton is getting pressure from his local SIJHL team in Schreiber to stay home.

"He’s torn and wants some time to think about it," said Blanchard Thursday morning noting that the Skyhawks would need some form of compensation from the Deisels.
